Shelter in Nepal Update

HELP NEPAL Children’s Home is one of the major projects undertaken by the HELP NEPAL Network (HeNN). Dhulikhel Children’s Home is providing a safe environment and education to 24 disadvantaged girls. The children actively participate in both academic and extracurricular activities in school. Tuition classes are conducted from 6am to 8am to help improve the educational outcomes of the girls. The children are also actively involved in agricultural activities on the grounds of the home.

In October 2022, Sita went on a 4 day educational tour of Pokhara and Sauraha. During her trip, she visited the irrigation canal of Sauraha, did a jeep safari in Chitwan National Park, and in Pokhara she witnessed the Seti River Dam, Davis Fall, Mahendra Cave, and Gupteswori Cave. On the last day of the trip, she went to Bindhyabasini Temple by boat in Begnas Lake. The trip was full of excitement and learning for her, as she observed many historical places and conservation areas around Sauraha and Pokhara.

Moreover, a one day dental check up camp was organised by a team from Dhulikhel Hospital where the children received proper dental related check ups. The HeNN team along with children’s home staff successfully gave a farewell to Shreya and Nirmala. Shreya is currently enrolled in her first year of Bachelor of Commerce studies, whereas Nirmala is enrolled in her first year on a Bachelor of Hotel Management course.

On the occasion of the 31st International Disability Day, a painting competition was organised by Dhulikhel Municipality under the banner of “Disability Friendly Municipality”. In this competition, Pratika, a daughter of HeNN Children’s Home, secured the first prize. Overall, the children’s home is running smoothly with the support of our generous donors.
